This year will be better. We plan to have a mad scientist/zombie theme this year. I wont tell you much more than that till after its all done and over. Don't wanna ruin the surprise(or write any more text). ;) Steve's thoughts: The haunted house ?04 is predicted to be a lot better. We have about seven people who will take part in the zombie thyme haunted house. This means a lot more spending money towards scary effects. Steve Campbell and Corbin Irvin are setting up the lights, sounds, and animatronics for this years haunted house. New sound effects, lighting, and a new location, along with new scares. Sure to be a blast! Update Haunted House '04 was a success! Even though many of our actors failed to show up (yes, they FAILED) we managed to go on without them. Pictures and other projects will be added once the film comes back from Steve. For this haunted house, we tried to go with a mad scientist type theme. The story behind it was that a mad scientist was preforming experiments in reanimation of dead bodies, but they got out of control. Our patrons (Who paid in candy to get in) first walk down a narrow dark pathway filled with fog. Then they go thorugh into the lab where I would preform a little skit and a reanimated corpse would attack me and I would get everyone to go out into the next room. In this room, there where "pods" built into the walls that held some previously animated bodies. An alarm would go off and the zombies would attack, and the patrons would run out screaming. That's how it was supposed to work. This is how it really happened: Patrons would enter into a fogless narrow hallway with a dim glow at the end. They would enter the "lab". I would do my skit, and everyone would move to the next chamber where 2 zombies tried to scare them, but often failed. First of all, the fogger was running, but no one ever pushed the button to activate it. Second of all, we where unprepared and didn't finish some rather inportant set peices such as the experiment table and some warning signs for the 2nd part. Third, most of our actors didn't show up! Only Evan Wilber did, and we pulled Kyle Morrison off the street! Do you realize how much it messes things up when one says that they will do something, but then they don't do it? It's disrespectful! This did allow us to determin who was dedicated to the project and who wasn't, but we got thier donations anyway. :p Techncially, we made decent progress with this house. We built a basic light control panel To control some lights and the Jacob's Ladder in the lab, we built a fog chiller for my new $20 fogger from Wal-Mart (I gave up on building my own, it just isn't worth it when the machines are only $20 a peice), and A Jacobs ladder for the lab. Sound was still from Steve's computer and PA system. In my opinion, this house was far better than what we had, but we had alot of room for improvement. We still had plastic tarp walls, a general lack of stuff, the background sound was not well chosen for the situation, and the outside was barely touched. I have some pictures sitting on my hard drive, and I will upload them sometime in august. 7/22/05 |
