My trusty old laptop. My uncle Larry gave this to me a couple years back. It is about 9 years old (1996), though it works well. It has a Pentium processor that runs at about 100-120Mhz, 16 megs of ram, 16 color VGA display, standard ports, 750MB hard drive and integrated sound. It started off as a win95 machine, but that eventually died and I loaded MS-DOS (for lack of a better alternative). I used to only use it for road trips, it runs older games like Duke Nukem3D (1st person shooter) and Terminal Velocity (old MS-DOS space flight simulator) but since I have my new laptop and end up driving myself anyway, it just collects dust. I was in the process of upgrading it to Damn Small Linux, though after finally getting it to boot I find that it's not very useable with its limited memory. While its on the shelf right now, I have plans to put netBSD on it and turn it into a little web server that will probably run this very site. 12/20/2007 |
